Arrive in Leh, Slow Down & Acclimatize
Land in Leh and ease into the altitude with a gentle hotel transfer. The first day is kept deliberately slow because Leh sits at about 3,500 m / 11,480 ft and your body needs time before the higher passes begin. Rest, hydrate, and step out only if you feel comfortable. By evening, take a light walk through Leh market for cafes, local shops, prayer flags, and the first quiet feel of Ladakh's high-altitude capital. Route Leh Airport to Leh hotel. Leh Heritage, Indus Valley & Sunset Views
Begin with Ladakh's culture, history, and open valley landscapes. Visit the Hall of Fame, Magnetic Hill, Sangam where the Indus and Zanskar rivers meet, and Gurudwara Pathar Sahib on the old highway. Later, return toward Leh for Shanti Stupa and Leh Palace, where the town, valley, and surrounding mountains open beautifully below you. Cross Khardung La into Nubra Valley
Leave Leh and climb toward South Pullu and Khardung La, one of the world's most famous motorable passes. The road rises through military checkpoints, prayer flags, and stark high-altitude terrain before dropping into the softer, wider world of Nubra. By afternoon, the landscape shifts into cold desert, glacial rivers, monastery villages, and the sand dunes of Hunder. Visit Diskit or Hunder as time allows before settling into your Nubra stay. Route Leh -> South Pullu -> Khardung La -> North Pullu -> Diskit -> Hunder. Elevation Leh ~3,500 m -> Khardung La ~5,359 m -> Nubra ~3,000 m. Stay Nubra. Balti Villages of Turtuk & Thang
Follow the Shyok valley deeper into Ladakh's Balti frontier. Turtuk feels intimate and different from central Ladakh, with stone lanes, apricot orchards, wooden homes, and a cultural memory shaped by Baltistan and border history. Continue to Thang, the last accessible Indian village in this direction near the LOC, before returning to Nubra for the night. Route Hunder -> Diskit -> Bogdang -> Turtuk -> Thang -> Turtuk -> Nubra. The Shyok Drive to Pangong Lake
Drive from Nubra toward Pangong through the Agham-Shyok road, one of Ladakh's most dramatic connecting routes. The road follows riverbeds, cliffs, raw mountain walls, and open valleys before reaching Durbuk and Tangtse. By afternoon, Pangong appears in layers of blue against bare high mountains. The evening is kept open for unhurried time by the lake. Route Nubra -> Agham -> Shyok -> Durbuk -> Tangtse -> Pangong. Elevation Pangong ~4,350 m. Stay Pangong. Pangong to Hanle through Changthang
Leave Pangong and follow the quieter lake-edge road through Man and Merak before moving toward Chushul. Pause at the Rezang La Memorial, one of Ladakh's most important military memory sites, then continue through Tsaga La into Hanle. The land opens into Changthang: wide plateau, long horizons, sparse settlements, and a powerful sense of remoteness. Hanle is known for silence, dark skies, and its astronomical observatory region. Route Pangong -> Man -> Merak -> Chushul -> Rezang La Memorial -> Tsaga La -> Hanle. Elevation Hanle ~4,500 m. Stay Hanle. Network is limited but improving; expect gaps across the plateau.

Umling La High Road & Tso Moriri
Start early for one of the journey's highest and most memorable days. Drive from Hanle toward Photi La and onward to Umling La, among the highest motorable roads in the world. Time at this altitude is kept controlled and unhurried; the driver sets the pace based on weather, road, and health conditions. Return through Hanle and continue via Nyoma, Mahe, and Sumdo toward Karzok on the shore of Tso Moriri. Route Hanle -> Photi La -> Umling La -> Hanle -> Nyoma -> Mahe -> Sumdo -> Karzok. Elevation Umling La ~5,798 m / 19,024 ft; Tso Moriri ~4,522 m. Stay Tso Moriri. Network drops above high passes and remote stretches.

Tso Moriri Stillness & Return to Leh
Wake beside the quieter, more meditative lake of eastern Ladakh. After breakfast, begin the return to Leh through Karzok, Sumdo, Mahe, and Upshi. The drive moves through high wetlands, open plateau, Indus-side valleys, and changing mountain textures before the road finally returns to Leh. The evening is kept free for rest after the remote eastern circuit. Route Karzok -> Sumdo -> Mahe -> Upshi -> Leh. Elevation Tso Moriri ~4,522 m -> Leh ~3,500 m. Stay Leh. Choose Lamayuru Moonland or Aryan Valley
The final full day is intentionally flexible. Option one follows the Leh-Kargil road toward Lamayuru, one of Ladakh's oldest monastery landscapes, with the sculpted Moonland terrain around it. Option two heads toward Aryan Valley, including Dah and Hanu, where Brokpa culture, orchards, and Indus-side villages create a softer cultural close to the journey. If there is any remaining Leh-side sightseeing or shopping, the team can shape the day around that instead. Route Option 1: Leh -> Lamayuru -> Moonland -> Leh. Route Option 2: Leh -> Aryan Valley -> Dah -> Hanu -> Leh. Stay Leh. Network is generally available with intermittent gaps.

The listed starting investment is based on the Economy package stays mentioned in the day-wise itinerary. Premium and Luxury packages use upgraded stays, better room categories where available, or similar-category alternatives depending on room availability for your dates.
What are the Premium and Luxury stay options?

Can we choose between Lamayuru and Aryan Valley?
Yes. Day 9 is intentionally flexible. Lamayuru is better for monastery and Moonland landscapes, while Aryan Valley is better for culture, villages, and a quieter Indus-side excursion.
Is Umling La guaranteed?
Umling La depends on road opening, permissions, weather, and guest health on the day. The team will attempt it only when conditions are sensible and safe.
What happens if a listed stay is unavailable?
An equivalent or higher-category stay is arranged while maintaining the overall quality of the experience. Remote regions like Hanle, Pangong, and Tso Moriri have limited inventory, so early confirmation helps.
