Phyang to Hunder Trek
Follow an ancient Silk Road trade route connecting the Indus and Nubra valleys over the 5,438m Lasermo La.
This 5-day trek traces an ancient trade corridor that once connected the Indus Valley to Nubra and onward to Central Asia along the old Silk Road network. Unlike the crowded motorable pass of Khardung La, the trail over Lasermo La (5,438m) is silent, remote, and accessed only on foot. The trek begins near Phyang monastery in the Indus Valley, climbing through summer grazing pastures to the glaciated Lasermo La pass. The crossing demands fitness, as the altitude gain is significant. Once over the pass, the landscape drops into the stunning Hunder Dok valley — a long, green meadow system used by shepherds, ultimately ending in the stark sand dunes of Hunder in the Nubra Valley. It is one of the most direct and visually striking ways to cross the Ladakh Range, exchanging the noise of the road for the quiet endurance of an ancient trail.

Questions before you book
Is Lasermo La dangerous?
It is physically demanding and often retains snow and ice even in summer. The altitude (5,438m) requires proper acclimatisation in Leh before starting. It is not technical climbing, but it is steep trekking.
Can this trek start with one traveller?
Yes. It can be planned for a solo private traveller, though support costs are more efficient with two or more guests.
Where does the trek end?
The walking route ends near Hunder in Nubra Valley. From there, your vehicle brings you back to Leh via Khardung La.
