Winter access and booking questions

How much does the Winter Zanskar tour cost?

The early-bird fixed-departure price is ₹32,000 per person plus 5% GST, or ₹33,600 total. It includes Delhi-Manali-Delhi overnight Volvo tickets, six accommodation nights, winter-friendly SUV transfers and the specified vegetarian breakfasts and dinners. The booking advance is ₹2,100 per person including GST and counts towards the trip total. Confirm your date and availability before paying.

Is this Winter Zanskar tour the Chadar Trek?

No. This is a winter road journey from Manali through Shinku La towards Padum, using winter-friendly SUV vehicles. It does not include trekking on the frozen Zanskar River. The Phuktal monastery walk is a separate out-and-back detour, attempted only when the guide confirms a safe trail and enough daylight for the onward drive.

When can I travel to Zanskar in winter?

Published departures for this journey run from November 2026 to March 2027. The selected date is Day 1 arrival in Manali; board the Delhi Volvo the previous evening. Day 7 ends with an overnight Volvo from Manali, reaching Delhi the following day. A departure date does not guarantee that a pass will be open: the team checks road clearance, weather and permissions.

Are the stays heated and is hot water available?

Winter stays use local homestays or partner guesthouses. Traditional bukhari heating is arranged where available; shared heated areas, bedroom heating and hot-water arrangements vary by property. Electric room heaters are included only when specifically confirmed. Ask the team to confirm the arrangements at each overnight stop before booking.

Are Suru Valley, Parkachik and Phuktal guaranteed in winter?

These visits depend on weather, road access and required permissions. Days 3–4 towards Drang Drung, Rangdum, Suru Valley and Parkachik run only on a safe, permitted route; stops and overnight locations may change. The Day 5 Phuktal walk also needs a safe trail and enough daylight to reach Sissu. The trip lead may skip a stop or change the route when conditions require it.

Will I have mobile network and WiFi during the trip?

Carry an Airtel or Jio postpaid SIM; we recommend Airtel postpaid for this trip. Coverage is patchy, with long no-signal stretches around Shinku La and the remote Zanskar and Suru roads. No operator guarantees signal throughout the route. WiFi depends on the stay and winter outages. Download maps, tickets and essential contacts before leaving Manali.

Who is this trip best suited for?

This November–March Winter Zanskar road journey suits travellers comfortable with a moderate to challenging Himalayan route. Expect long consecutive road days, severe cold and basic remote stays. This trip suits travellers comfortable with changing plans and limited facilities.

How long is the journey and what is the trip style?

The mountain itinerary runs for 7 days and 6 nights from Manali, with Delhi-Manali and Manali-Delhi overnight Volvo tickets included in the Delhi-to-Delhi package. It is planned as a small-group winter road journey with up to 8 guests.

What kind of stay can I expect?

The route uses winter-ready local stays or partner guesthouses in Manali, Padum, Parkachik, Purne and Sissu. Remote nights are practical rather than luxury-led; heating and hot-water arrangements depend on the confirmed property.

Are meals included during the trip?

Vegetarian breakfast is included from Day 2 through Day 7, and dinner is included from Day 1 through Day 6. Meal style depends on the confirmed hotel, homestay or camp.

What is usually included in the price?

The booking covers Delhi-Manali and Manali-Delhi overnight Volvo tickets, 6 nights across Manali, Padum, Parkachik, Purne and Sissu, breakfast from Day 2 through Day 7, dinner from Day 1 through Day 6, and winter-ready SUV transfers.

What is not usually included?

Lunches, meals during the Delhi Volvo journeys, personal expenses, travel insurance and extra nights outside the itinerary are not included. Delhi-Manali-Delhi Volvo tickets are included; confirm the local hotel-to-boarding-point transfer arrangement with the team before booking. See the exclusions above for the full scope.

Can I choose a private departure or customize this itinerary?

Yes. If you want a private journey, a premium Manali hotel upgrade, or route-level customization, use the booking support section to contact the team. Remote Zanskar nights remain homestay/camp based because winter infrastructure is limited.

What happens if the Zanskar road is closed?

If Shinku La or the Zanskar approach is closed by snow, ice or official road restrictions, the backup route is Winter Pangi for the same number of days and the same trip value. The team confirms this operational switch before departure or on ground if the road condition changes.

When are the upcoming departures available?

Departures run on fixed seasonal dates with limited spots per group. Reach out via WhatsApp or the contact page for the latest confirmed dates and current availability.
