Delhi to Triund by bus or car

Overnight Volvo and other buses, both state-run and private, leave Delhi in the evening for McLeod Ganj and Dharamshala and arrive the next morning. By car, the usual route runs north through Panipat, Karnal and Ambala, then via Ropar, Anandpur Sahib and Nangal into the Kangra valley; allow around ten to eleven hours of driving, plus stops.

Flying in, or taking the train

Kangra Airport at Gaggal is the closest airport, with flights from Delhi. From there it is a taxi ride up through Dharamshala to McLeod Ganj. By rail, the nearest broad-gauge station is Pathankot Cantt (Chakki), about 91 km from McLeod Ganj, with taxis and buses for the onward journey into the hills.

Chandigarh to Triund

Chandigarh is closer than Delhi, and buses and taxis run regularly to Dharamshala. The road follows Ropar and the hills towards Una or Nangal before climbing through the Kangra valley. Many travellers from Punjab and Chandigarh make Triund a long weekend.

From McLeod Ganj to the start of the trail

Most day walkers take a taxi from McLeod Ganj to Galu Devi Temple above Dharamkot, where the forest check post is, and start walking there. The quieter route begins at Bhagsu Square, a short distance from McLeod Ganj, and climbs past Bhagsu Waterfall. On our private trek we collect you from your McLeod Ganj hotel and drop you back after the walk.
